Additional information:

Sheila Miller, M.Mus., has been practicing yoga since 1989 and teaching since 1998. She completed her basic teacher training certification with the Kripalu Center in Massachusetts in 1998 and her 500-hour advanced teacher training there in 2004. In the summer of 2009 she spent seven weeks training and travelling in India. In 2004 she studied intensively with Angela Farmer in Molivos, Greece and in 2002 completed an advanced teacher training with yoga teacher and author Donna Farhi. Sheila also teaches private classes or groups in offices, schools and students’ homes, and is a Shiatsu and CranioSacral Therapist and singing and piano teacher. Sheila also practices and studies Mindfulness Meditation. This summer she completed her tenth week-long or longer meditation retreat! She is also celebrating the tenth anniversary of her weeklong training at the Kripalu Center in Teaching Meditation Techniques. Sheila has been teaching meditation for 10 years. She has trained with master teachers at the Insight Meditation Society in the Massachusetts, Tara Mandala in Colorado, Tushita Centre in Dharamsala, India (where she also taught yoga), Gaia House in England, Plum Village, Thich Nhat Hanh's monastery in France, Wat Suan Mokh in Thailand, and the Northwoods Mindfulness Community in Canada. Kripalu yoga is a mindful and slow style of Asana practice (yoga poses). Classes begin with fluid warm-ups and centered breathing followed by postures, modified for the students’ individual needs. We build strength and focus by holding the poses and deepening the breath. The 90 minute class format will finish with 20 minutes of guided Mindfulness Meditation. The benefits of yoga include relaxation, improved body consciousness, balance, flexibility, strength, compassion and insight.
