Yasodhara Yoga was established in 1982, formerly known as Radha Yoga. We are affiliated with Yasodhara Ashram in British Columbia and offer small classes in a variety of locations. Our practices are gentle and reflective, embracing yoga as a lifestyle both on and off the mat. We welcome people of all ages, abilities and spiritual traditions. Radha House Calgary (then Shambala House) was the first of numerous spiritual yoga centres opened by Swami Radha. It was a sanctuary and centre of light for over twenty years. Then it was time for the next step. The house was sold but the centre has continued and is thriving as a “virtual” centre. There is no mortar and brick studio; its foundation is Swami Radha’s teachings and the commitment of the teachers. In 2013 we changed our name to align with the home of the teachings, Yasodhara Ashram. All teachers have been trained at Yasodhara Ashram in a residential program. It is their spiritual home, and they return frequently to reconnect, renew and re-certify. Our Lineage Swami Radha and her teachings are part of the Saraswati lineage. Saraswati is the goddess of knowledge, music, arts and science. She is the consort of Brahma. Swami Sivananda Saraswati (September 8, 1887 – July 14, 1963) “Complete peace equally reigns between two mental waves.”
